TWU celebrates International Women’s Day at DTFC

As February gives way to March, National Women’s Month begins and provides a time to honor, support and celebrate the remarkable achievements of women. Texas Woman’s University is kicking off this month-long celebration with an exciting collaboration designed to inspire and empower women everywhere.

TWU has partnered with Dallas Trinity FC, a new professional women’s soccer club in Dallas, and is inviting Pioneers to their Women’s Day match with an exclusive offer for half-off tickets priced at $15.

“Dallas Trinity FC reached out to us… [and] we established a relationship and were able to partner in this upcoming International Women’s Day game,” said Fitness and Recreation Director Allison Meguro. “They are a professional women’s club and any time we can support women in sports, I am all in. [Our] partnership with Dallas Trinity FC aligns with our core values in numerous ways, including our commitment to supporting women, athletes, and female leadership, as well as fostering mentorship and promoting inclusion in sports.”

The Woman’s Day Match will include much more than a fantastic soccer game. The event will begin with a Pre-Match Women Leaders of Dallas Panel where women leading the charge in their respective fields will share their stories, offer advice to the next generation, and participate in a Q&A session. Attendees will also enjoy a Women’s Expo marketplace featuring only women-owned brands, products, and services. The game will include giveaways and a halftime performance by M.O.M., an all-female dance crew. Pioneers will also be given exclusive post-match field access for photos and autographs.

“It’s going to be a fun time and when you look in the crowd, especially for this match, you’ll see a lot of women and also a lot of little girls,” said Dallas FC Account Executive Abby Muñoz. “It’s something about being able to see yourself in our players that really resonates with us. This…match is all about women for women by women.”

The game will take place at 4 p.m. on March 9 at the Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas. For more information and to purchase tickets, click here.
