It’s the hip thing to do

Known for its hipster culture and unique vibe, Denton is the little sister of Austin, Texas. Festivals are common, live music can be heard floating down the streets on a daily basis, and you may often see the downward dog being practiced on the Courthouse lawn- one thing that can be said about Denton is that it is far from dull.

Many college students run on coffee and pure determination- Denton may not always be able to provide determination, but it can offer up some fantastic coffee. Jupiter house is a great place to go to hang out, meet new people, or even study with the free wifi available there. Oh- and don’t forget the coffee. Kori Spencer of Discover Denton claims that Jupiter House is the “coziest coffee shop ever-” so swing on over and snuggle up with a cup of joe and your history notes!

With coffee comes the need for some food. This is where LSA Burger Company comes in. Every Monday night, LSA hosts an open-mic night with live performers of all types. LSA is the place to go for a great burger with a side of Denton art.

Another great place to eat out is Killer’s Tacos. On Sept. 9 at 6:30 p.m., Killer’s Tacos will be hosting several live performers all night. Don’t miss out on those tacos and music.

Denton always has some sort of festival going on , and the festival of the week goes to the Arts and Autos Extravaganza. Also being held on Sept. 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the festival features a ton of vintage cars and crafts galore. This is one festival you do not want to miss.

Don’t forget about the ghosts wandering the streets of Denton… most may not know that their town is indeed a site where paranormal activity has been witnessed, so grab a friend to hold your hand and venture on a Ghost Tour of Denton Sept. 8 at 8 p.m. You might want to bring an extra pair of underwear- just in case.

This is only the surface of all that goes on in Denton, but it’s a start to discovering the gems that the little city holds within. Go get started!
