Uncategorized by Johnna Headley - April 28, 20170 My favorite spring time activity is simply being outside and reading, writing or drawing. I’ve always had a certain affinity for spring and I love being out in nature. It’s also the perfect way to lose track of time as the weather is not too hot or cold and the beautiful trees and flowers are in full bloom. I could spend hours laying out on a blanket or hammock sketching, reading a new or classic book or writing my own stories. It’s a wonderful and relaxing activity for me. During the springtime, there are a handful of things I would rather be doing than, say, sitting in an office typing this staff pick. All I really want to do at this time of year is throw up a tent with a good book and someone to read it to, or take a long hike with good company. For either of these springtime activities, I would highly recommend heading down to Cedar Hill State Park, White Rock Lake Park or Oak Cliff Nature Preserve. Ever since I was a little girl, spring has meant getting dirty. My favorite thing to do during this season is planting plants. I have watched my grandparents work for years in their backyard, growing things with their own efforts. Having my hands dirty with soil and making new homes for green life. I enjoy every aspect of gardening, whether it is planting flowers or putting in effort now to have good vegetables in a few months. It is a great way to spend some time outdoors and oddly enough, get some great exercise. My favorite spring time activity would have to be trips to the park, so that I can read outdoors. While I’ll still do this in the summer, I love spending time outdoors with a good book during the spring when the flowers are blooming and the temperatures allow for longer visits. Reading is one of my favorite hobbies and relaxing in good weather with a new book or a classic is a great way to spend some extra time.
