The Campus Alliance for Resource Education at TWU is preparing to gear up for its annual Early Childhood Fair on March 9, which is coordinated to feature TWU’s on-campus resources for traditional students and students with families. CARE accommodates students who have a few extra responsibilities by offering means for finding child care, as well as sponsoring a network designated for other students who double as parents through the Student Parents Also Raising Kids Organization.
Assistant Director of Veterans and non-traditional student services and fair coordinator Brittanie Romine shared: “The early childhood fair will be a great resource for students with children because we will have a variety of options for student-parents to browse all in a one-stop shop.” The fair will offer information from related departments and various on-campus resources, including the Department of Family Science, TWU Dental Hygiene and TWU’s Association of Texas Professional Educators, just to name a few. Romine continued by saying: “We will have resources for student-parents that are available here at TWU and in Denton County.”
Though the fair features resources accommodating student families, information will also be available for resources favorable for both children and students who are interested in pursuing a focus in early childhood education. Romine said: “We will have the TWU [librarians] come in and talk about the awesome children’s collection.” Traditional students can also benefit from this event, as the fair doubles as a networking opportunity for aspiring early childhood educators. Romine added: “We will also have opportunities for students to look at summer employment. These TWU resources would be a great tool for anyone interested in an early childhood field.”
The Early Childhood Fair is set to take place on March 9 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the 2nd floor of the Student Union.
