TWU athletics continued through the winter break to improve records and prepare for conference play.

Basketball
The Pioneers started conference play on Dec. 31 with a 72-62 win over Tarleton State University and currently hold a 5-1 Lone Star Conference record. According to the TWU athletics website, freshman Kara Mitchell put up a career high of 18 points to help lift the Pioneers over the Tarleton TexAnns.
Coming off of a two-win streak, the Pioneers will face Texas A&M-Kingsville on Jan. 21 at 7 p.m. in the Kitty Magee Arena and will travel to San Angelo on Jan. 24 to face Angelo State at 2 p.m.
Gymnastics
 The TWU gymnastics team hosted No. 10 Arizona in a dual meet on Jan. 17 and finished 1.025 points behind the Wildcats. The Pioneers led the vault rotation with a 48.225.
The Pioneers will host a quad meet on Jan. 24 at 1 p.m. and will compete with Air Force, Centenary and Southeast Missouri State.
Softball
TWU softball will begin pre-season play on Jan. 29 at the Florida Tech/Marriott Kickoff Classic. They will face Florida Tech, Lynn University, Flager College and Palm Beach Atlantic. Conference play will begin on March 4 when the Pioneers have a double header scheduled with Tarleton State University.
Lone Star Conference achievements
According to the TWU athletics website, 64 TWU student-athletes and student athletic trainers made the LSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll list by achieving at least a 3.30 GPA for the past semester and 27 athletes boasted a perfect 4.00 GPA.
