The 114th Congress is in session. Currently, marijuana use and acquisition is illegal according to federal law. States that have “made” it legal are acting out of that jurisdiction. I would like to see the Compassionate Access, Research Expansion, and Respect States Act passed by Congress and signed by the new POTUS. According to safeaccessnow.com, the CARERS Act would 1) allow state programs and legislation to continue without reprimand, 2) take marijuana off of the Schedule I list, 3) remove CBD from the scheduling, 4) provide banking services for legal marijuana businesses, 5) end the DEA-imposed NIDA monopoly and FDA regulations that restrict research and 6) allow Veterans Affairs doctors to write prescriptions for their patients in legal states.
