Soccer’s Five-game Winning Streak
Thursday, Oct. 25 TWU faced off against rival Texas A&M Commerce. This was a key conference match that ended with another victory for The Pioneers. The game was one long stalemate, as neither team seemed able to score. It was not until the game entered overtime that TWU senior Lauren Neely’s goal, six minutes into overtime, was able to finish the game with a victory.
Volleyball Ups and Downs
The Pioneers played against Texas A&M – Kingsville Saturday, Oct. 20. Despite intensive effort, TWU lacked a strong defense and lost the match 3-1.
The first two sets were full of communication problems and little improvement. The third and fourth sets saw some refinement from the Pioneers, but not enough to turn the game around. This is the third loss in a row for TWU.
The game Tuesday, Oct. 23 saw TWU turn around their rough start to the season. The Pioneers played against the Midwestern Mustangs, who they beat with a 3-1 victory.
While both teams started off with some errors, it did not take long for TWU to come out swinging. The Pioneers lost the first set but were able to recover and ended the game by dominating the last three sets.
