Pack the House event

On September 13, Texas Woman’s volleyball team faced off against the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith. This game marks the second match for TWU in the Fall 2024 Denton Volleyfest tournament, hosted in the Kitty Magee Arena. The excitement for the game matched the buzz for the Pack the House raffle, hosted by TWU Housing and Dining, with students eagerly anticipating which random attendee will be awarded a $500 Housing scholarship.

The electric game began with UAFS claiming the first two sets (25-20) and (25-23), respectively. The Pioneers turned the tide in the third set by winning (27-25) but eventually fell in the fourth set to UAFS in a close (25-23).

“The atmosphere in KMA has already been amazing this season,” said head volleyball coach, Jessica Ransom. “The crowd really gets excited and that helps our team play with even more energy. We start conference play this week and would love for the entire campus to come and see how much fun home volleyball matches are.”

Housing and dining announced the raffle winner at the end of the game and sophomore Gary Graham received the $500 scholarship. Graham attends TWU as a pre-nursing major with a passion for sports, specifically volleyball. He works as an intramural official for Fitness and Recreation and actively participates in intramural volleyball tournaments. He enjoys attending TWU volleyball games to support the Pioneers and watch his favorite sport.

“I was very excited when I heard them announce my name,” said Graham. “I was very shocked to have won and I’m grateful for the scholarship and the financial relief it’s provided me.”

For students interested in supporting the TWU pioneers, entrance is free for all home games through the Student/Faculty All-Sports Pass. The Pioneers Fall season’s just getting started, and for more information about upcoming sports events, games and locations, visit the TWU volleyball website.
