Outdoor Adventures

Each year, the TWU Fitness and Recreation Center hosts multiple outdoor adventures that are open to students and range from kayaking, hiking, caving and horseback riding. This semester, there will be seven trips available that will cost between $10 and $40 per student. Each student must pre-register to reserve their spot. To register, visit the front desk of the Fitness and Recreation Center during their hours of operation.

Coffee Break

The Fitness and Recreation Center will be outside of the building on Thursday, Aug 30 from 7:30-9:30 a.m. The Outdoor Adventure Trip Leaders will be serving coffee to those who are interested in the trips this fall. While sipping on coffee, you can also learn more about the other clinics and events that the Fitness and Recreation Center will be hosting.

Group Exercise Classes

The Fitness and Recreation Center offers group exercise, or Group X, classes for students, staff and faculty. These classes are for all levels of fitness. The instructors aim to give modifications to the workouts so everyone can break a sweat. These classes are held in the studio rooms on the second floor of the Fitness and Recreation Center, the indoor pool located in Pioneer Hall and at the rock wall in the Fitness and Recreation Center. Classes range from yoga, cycling, climbing, boxing and dancing. There is a class available for whatever you are in the mood for.

Intramural Sports

Aside from working out, the Fitness and Recreation Center offers intramural sports year round. Flag football, soccer, volleyball and basketball are some of the options available. Students can register as a team or a free agent who will be placed on a team needing more players. No skill is required to play. To register, visit the front desk of the Fitness and Recreation Center, or for more information on the sports, contact Gabe Cruz at (940) 898-2189 or gcruz1@twu.edu
