Wednesdays at Abbey Underground on The Square

Get Over Hump Day with Jams

Being a student at TWU, it’s only a matter of time before you hear somebody else talk about how little there is to do in Denton. Even though individuals are entitled to their opinion, this is simply not true. The Abbey Underground’s Open Jam Wednesdays are proof of that.

Hosted by Bret Crow and Quaz, this midweek event gives individuals a chance to jam out in one of Denton’s live music venues as either a solo or group act.

Although informal, this gathering of musicians creating music together is a great opportunity created for the residents of Denton to enjoy. As the name implies, Open Jam Wednesdays is held every Wednesday from 9:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. at 100 W Walnut St. off of historic downtown Denton square.

Not only can individuals come and display their passion for music and entertainment, but Dentonites can use this as an opportunity to get through the mid-week slump we all often find ourselves in.

How to Participate

Participating in Open Jam Wednesdays is easy and open to anybody who wishes to be a part of the session. Simply take your instruments over and sign up for a time to go on. The sign up for the night is opened at 9:30 p.m., and individuals can choose to sign up as a single act and find people to jam with, or they can sign up in groups and jam with specific people.

Each group of people, or single act, will be given the chance to perform 3 songs, or more if they’re short, then pass on the stage to the next set. Any questions can be directed to Abbey Underground at (940)-565-5478.
