TWU soccer suffers losses

Friday, Sept. 21 marked the beginning of the Lone Star Conference as Texas Woman’s fiercely played against longtime rivals, West Texas A&M. Despite the Pioneers’ incessant effort, it was the Lady Buffs that took home the 2-0 victory, producing the girls’ first road loss of the year. The game began with some offensive struggle for TWU, but Junior Hannah Schneider helped the Pioneers maintain possession of the ball throughout the first half. This momentum, though, was lost in the second part of the game. After the Pioneers earned multiple corner kicks, which amounted to nothing but blocked goals, the game ended with the Lady Buffs victory.

Unfortunately, Sunday Sept. 23 saw the Pioneers end their game against Eastern New Mexico in a goalless tie. The first half of the game was full of missed opportunities, which kept TWU off the scoreboard. As the game entered overtime, desperation to score caused aggression on the field. As a result, fouls racked up, and the game ended without a score for either team. TWU is scheduled to play 10 more conference games this season.
