Students, this weekend is your chance to show off the TWU campus to your family. Starting Friday, Oct. 5, the annual TWU Family Weekend will commence at 5:30p.m. with a tailgating party before the TWU volleyball game. Check-in for family weekend will begin at 5 p.m. on Hubbard Lawn before the tailgate. Students can register their family at check-in if they did not register online. Registration prices are $40 for adults, $25 for family members 6-17 years old and free for students and family members 5 years or younger.
Family Weekend goes all weekend long, hence the name, but it is only on Friday night that there is a structured schedule to entertain students and their families. After the TWU volleyball game, families are invited to come watch The Incredibles 2 and enjoy light snacks and popcorn.
Saturday, Oct. 6 is a more fluid schedule that allows families to go explore Denton. There is a schedule of events happening, but families are not required to go. To see the official schedule of Family Weekend, look here. Families will be served dinner at the tailgate and breakfast and lunch on Saturday, but they will be on their own for meals for the rest of the weekend. There will be a reception downtown at the visitor’s center Saturday night for families to attend after they have explored Denton. Ghost tours will be available after the reception if students want to get a little spooky for Halloween.
Students are not limited on the number of family members they bring, so make sure to have much family as possible come to Family Weekend so they can see what your college experience has looked like.
