Flatliners is thriller scifi movie that will keep you guessing until the very end. It made its debut last Friday and can be found in all theaters.
The plot of the movie followed the experiment of five graduate students as they research what happens after death within the brain. However, the experiment comes with side effects that the students never expected or wanted…
I really enjoyed the premise of the movie, and I think the plot was very well-rounded. Unlike many thriller movies, it was not predictable. There was a surprise after every turn, and it never went as it was expected to. This made the movie incredibly enjoyable and will keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time. Horror was the main aspect of the film, but there was also a bit of romance mixed in with the screams and terror. Overall, Flatliners offered a fantastic storyline that explored an array of genres.
There was also a great underlying theme that was revealed at the end of the movie. Without spoiling anything, Flatliners provides a universal lesson at the end of the movie that ties it all together with a nice, unexpected, little bow.
Of course, there are inevitably some negative characteristics of the movie. This may sound morbid, but there should have been at least one more death in the movie to polish off the horror side of the story. It seemed a little anticlimactic at the end with the minimal amount of deaths. Otherwise, there was not much that could be called a fault in Flatliners.
Flatliners was a great watch, and I would recommend it to anyone who loves a good scifi movie. The horror aspect is not so terrible that more sensitive people could not watch it, but there are some scary scenes to haunt your nightmares for a night or two.
