Commuter Appreciation Week

From March 20 – 23, TWU Care will host its semi-annual Commuter Appreciation Week. This event is a long standing tradition that has happened in every fall and spring semester since 2004. Assistant Director for Campus Alliance for Resource Education Jessica Burchfield stated: “With commuters being the majority of our students here at Texas Woman’s, we believe it is important to recognize the extra effort it takes for them to be a successful student here.” For this year’s Commuter Appreciation Week, the big event is the annual Spring Apartment Fair. During this event, various apartment complexes come out for students to learn more about what off campus options are out there, and learn more about how to read a lease and ultimately make more educated decisions about where to live. Burchfield stated that “having Commuter Appreciation Week every semester is a small token of gratitude we would like to share with all of our commuters to let them know that we understand and appreciate the extra effort it takes for them to be a pioneer.” Burchfield also said there are some new things this year including peanut butter and jelly sandwiches during the breaks and “new faces to see at the Apartment fair, and new partnerships at our Commuter Coffee stops and Commuter Breaks.”
