The 2018 Parry Distinguished Lecturer, Dr. Lynda Wilson, is a registered nurse and Professor Emerita in the School of Nursing at The University of Alabama at Birmingham. Wilson began her career as a nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She then attended the University of Delaware to attain an Master of Science in Nursing in maternal-child nursing; Wilson then completed her doctorate at the University of Tennessee.

Following her graduation from the University of Tennessee, Wilson had an expansive career which started in the mid 1970s and has included everything from clinical and academic nursing positions to serving as the Director of Nursing Research at The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and serving as a three-time Fulbright Scholar and Specialist in Chile, Zambia and Malawi.
