Join the TWU School of Arts for an evening of art, theatre, dance and music.

On Thursday, March 31, from 7-9 p.m., TWU will host its annual ARTSWALK, a free event to showcase art projects created by faculty and students.

For the eighth year in a row, this event, formally known as the Arts Triangle, invites members of the Denton community to explore the creative areas on campus this year. According to TWU’s website, to kick off the tour Chancellor and President Dr. Carine Feyton will join Denton Mayor Chris Watts as co-grand marshals in an optional bicycle parade. Anyone who wants to participate in the parade, will meet on the northwest corner of the Downtown Denton Square at 5:45 p.m. and travel to Hubbard Hall on campus, where the ARTSWALK will begin.

The tour will begin at 7 p.m., with a brief introduction and overview of the evening. The events will be held across campus in several different places, and the audience may choose where to wander throughout the night.

From 7:20-8:10 p.m. in the Dance Gymnastics Laboratory Building room 208, Associate Professor of the Visual Arts Department Jana Perez and Associate Professor of Dance Matt Henley will show a collaborative work piece. According to TWU’s website, the work explores the ways in which archetypes have influenced perceptions of identity, particularly in mass media.

At the Bernice Abreo Fischer Amphitheater from 8:00- 8:50 p.m., Associate Professor of Visual Arts Colby Parsons and Assistant Professor of Dance Rosemary Candelario will feature their collaborative work named “Surface,” which will feature music by composer Westin Portillo and current and alumni TWU dance students. For an hour starting at 7:30 p.m. a variety of art performances will be given in the Free Speech Area outside of the Student Union.

Other art pieces will be shown around campus and the night will conclude with a reception in Hubbard Hall from 8:30-9:00 p.m.
