West shared: “It supports what’s happening in our classrooms. Some poetry is meant to be viewed and experienced. Poetry itself is meant to be read out loud. It’s our role as educators to expose students to new things, and help them find things they love.”

Morton became a Texas Poet Laureate in 2010. Since then she has traveled throughout Texas as an ambassador for poetry in her Little Town, Texas Tour. She serves on the Greater Denton Arts Council and also helped found Denton’s Poets’ Assembly. Her poetry as a wide variety of style, including the use of photos and music.

West concluded: “She’s dynamic, she’s inspiring, and she has a positive glow about her. I’ve got calls from people in the community about her, and I think it’s going to be a full room.”
