YOU Review

Overview:

This book takes place in modern day New York where people post constantly about their daily lives. One morning, an aspiring writer, Guinevere Beck, goes into a bookstore where Joe Goldberg works, and what seems like a casual conversation with mild flirting turns into a hectic stalker story that turns tragic.

Why it’s so good:

This book is amazing, Stephen King even stated that it is “Hypnotic and scary. Totally original.” “You” is captivating, I could not put it down. I am a horror junkie, and this book really nailed it on the head with suspense. It takes something real that could happen to anyone and put it in print. As the reader, I could really see myself in Beck’s shoes. There were times I actually had to double check that I didn’t have a stalker behind me while reading. It is such a real life situation for people.

Throughout this book I found myself questioning the main character and her motives. Sometimes it’s like she is oblivious to what is going on around her, but I can also relate to that because sometimes I am so busy that I forget to take notice to my surroundings.

The Ending:

The last few chapters completely threw me for a loop. It is kind of an expected ending, but it also twisted it to where you were second guessing how it would end. Following the last chapter there is a teaser for the next book, Hidden Bodies, which I have yet to read, but the teaser had made me excited to read on.

If you are a fan of Stephen King, You is for you! The next time you are at a book store, look for this book and give it a read. I would recommend this book for anyone and everyone. 10/10 would read again and maybe even a third time.
