‘Practicing with Professionals’

School of Management hosts networking showcase

On Thursday, March 10, TWU’s School of Management will host a free Networking Showcase event on the Dallas campus from 5:45-8 p.m. Students interested in attending the event must register on the School of Management website by Friday, March 4.

This networking showcase will focus on “Practicing with Professionals” and is a follow-up event as a result from a speaker who talked to students about networking and how to market themselves last fall. The professionals will mainly consist of vice presidents from various companies and businesses in the DFW area.

The showcase will begin at 5:45 p.m. with a reception for students to mingle with the professionals. After the reception, separate networking sessions will begin, and students can choose the topics based on their interests and disciplines. Afterwards, there will be another reception for lingering questions and opportunities to hand out resumes, which will wrap up at 8 p.m.

School of Management Administrative Assistant Jody Rodriguez shared information about the networking event: “The vice presidents will be sharing their stories and experiences of how they began their careers and how they got to where they are today.”

She added: “It is a great chance to get TWU students out there and to let the companies know of our great students and get their names out there.”

Rodriguez explained the networking showcase is not limited to management students, but there will be representation to interest several other disciplines – such as accounting, finance, health systems management, human resources and marketing students as well.

The School of Management has made transportation arrangements for students on the Denton campus to attend the networking event. There will be two buses parked by West Jones Hall, which will be leaving for Dallas at 3 p.m. Students interested in riding a bus to the Dallas campus must email Rodriguez at jrodriguez48@twu.edu after registration to confirm a spot on one of the buses.
