Player Spotlight: Meet Lauren Bradford

Lauren Bradford, a soccer student-athlete here at TWU, has done her due diligence to succeed in every facet of her life. She’s technically a senior and will be graduating a year early next May. This is her third and last year to play competitively. She studies speech pathology and is currently applying for graduate programs.

She explained that she’s been playing soccer her whole life. During high school in Frisco, she was on both the high school team and club soccer. She was also a band member who played French horn and trumpet. Ultimately, though, she picked the extracurricular that would help pay for tuition, so she stuck with soccer for her college career. I’m not entirely sure when she sleeps, but she has energy to spare, and she’s proven it with some incredible stats. In addition, she’s been on the Lone Star Commissioner’s Honor Roll both years she has played here at TWU.

When I asked her about one of her best moments on the field, she immediately knew the answer.

“My freshman year in our very first scrimmage, I actually scored, and that was exciting to me. I’d just gotten into the game, and I ran down the back side, and the ball wasn’t supposed to come to me—it was a misdirection—but I ran on to it, and I scored,” she said. “My first game of my freshman year, and I scored? That felt good. I thought that was a good way to start out the year.”

One of her favorite aspects of being on the field is hearing fans cheer for the team, so go watch her and the rest of the TWU soccer team this Wednesday at 7 p.m. as they face Texas A&M Commerce, one of our biggest rivals.

Don’t forget to follow the excitement on social media by following twu_soccer on Instagram, Twitter and TWU Soccer on Facebook.
