TWU volleyball is not something to be trifled with- this year’s players are determined and ready to put in whatever work is needed plus some to ensure the best season possible for them.

After playing against worthy opponents, the team has built up some great stats. However, not every game will end in victory – this was evident after last Friday’s game. After their defeat, the team fought and came back full force for the next game, and it is a tribute to their determination to have a good overall season.

TWU played Tarleton State University on Friday evening at 7 p.m. and, unfortunately, lost three sets to one. After this defeat, TWU did not return to the court on Saturday with their tails between their legs.

On Saturday at 2 p.m., TWU stared down Angelo State University. The game began, and TWU showed the Belles what they were made of. TWU won two sets in a row, and then ASU came back and won the next two matches. With victory just within reach, TWU played hard and won the final set with a score of 15-12.

With Saturday’s game being such a nail-biter, Sophomore defensive specialist Bailey French admitted that “it felt really awesome to put in some work” and pull through with the win. The Pioneers started the game out strong, but French admitted they “were a little inconsistent in the middle.” Indeed, the Pioneers struggled to stay ahead of ASU. But they did not give up. TWU took back the lead at the end and won the match. French said the team “needs to stay calm and collected” in order to play their best during games, but she feels based on this game, and previous games this season, the team will “show people who we are” as they dominate.
