First Responder Charity

On Oct. 17, from noon to 6 p.m., join Friends with Benefits Denton for its third annual charity event: the North Texas Hot Shots Concert. The goal is to raise money for first responders.

In an email interview, Friends with Benefits President Mindy Arendt shared: “We always hope that many people come to the event to enjoy our efforts. It takes a lot of time and effort to put on any event, and we do it all for the chosen charities for the event to help improve our community and North Texas.”

Previously in the month, the Friends with Benefits Denton had their fun run before Fry Street’s Oktoberfest on October 3, in conjunction with the benefit concert.

The Concert

The upcoming concert includes The Rhythm and Beards, Hollertime, Superkings, and Chase Ryan. Friends with Benefits Denton has also partnered with several local organizations, including the Denton Rugby Club, Ben E. Keith Beverages, Business Printing and Ed Steele Photography in order to hold the event.

Friends with Benefits Denton is optimistic in the concert turnout. The organization encourages everyone in the community to attend.

Arendt said: “We hope to see a great turn out to show support to our North Texas Hot Shots – our first responders. It will be a great day with live music, food trucks, a cornhole tournament and great people. Bring your own lawn chair or blanket to sit and enjoy the day with us.”

Additional sponsors include local businesses including The Bearded Monk, Oak St. Drafthouse, East Side Denton and Harvest House.

Proceeds for the event will go to Michael’s Memories and The Russ Martin Show Listeners’ Foundation, both of which are organizations that benefit first responders. The concert is free, but the event will also include beverages for purchase, as well as merchandise and a silent auction to raise money for first responders groups.
