This coming weekend, the Denton Arts and Jazz Festival is set to return to town. The event will take place in Quakertown Park on Friday evening and throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday.

According to the event website, the arts and jazz festival will take place across seven stages and will include “continuous music, fine art, crafts, and food, games and information booths in a beautiful, outdoor setting.” Proceeds from the event will go to the city’s arts community.

Performing artists will include the UNT One O’Clock Lab Band as well as Patrice Rushen and Friends on Friday night, The Flatlanders on Saturday night and Brave Combo on Sunday night, in addition to other musical acts.

Local and regional artists will have their works on display for purchase in booths. Additionally, the festival will include a Children’s Art Tent, ensuring that the event’s young visitors will be able to enjoy creating and participating in art. Artistic activities for children include “clay and flower sculpture, tan gram art, stamp art, collage, drawing and more,” according to the event website.

Children can also enjoy a Percussion Petting Zoo, allowing for a hands-on experience with percussive instruments. Other attractions include face-painting booths, a rock-climbing wall, an inflatable obstacle course and a playground.

The arts and jazz festival boasts a wide range of cuisines for all sorts of culinary tastes, ranging from German sausage and shish kabobs to cotton candy and funnel cakes.

The festival will be held from 5-11 p.m. Friday evening, from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday. The event is free and open to the public.
