Head Coach Lisa Bowerman said: “Well I think the first meet of the season was not what we hoped to start with, but we made improvements the following week in Denver and we made improvements last week at LSU [Louisiana State University]. I think we’re on a good path of improving every week.”

In the Jan. 29 meet, TWU did achieve a season high score of 194.605, showing that improvement has been made from the first meet of the season where the team score totaled 189.500. Bowerman said: “We just want to keeping getting better and more confident every week and put ourselves in a good position at the end of season to be in the fight for conference championships and the national championship. I think we’ve shown, despite some mistakes this year, that we are a more confident team than we have been in the past and that gives us a good foundation.”

The Pioneers have been successful this season taking home several individual awards. TWU won two trophies for the All-Around event this season, Junior All-Around Schyler Jones won first place Jan. 6 and Bria Northrop won second place Jan. 20. The Pioneers remain hopeful and dedicated to reaching their goals this season. First-year All-Around Bria Northrop gymnast said: “I’m so excited to see where we go because it’s only the third week of the season and we’re improving each week, so by the end I really think that we can win nationals.”

The next meet TWU will participate in takes place Feb. 3 at a quad meet in Norman, Oklahoma. The next home meet will be Feb. 5 against Lindenwood University.
