Gymnastics makes MIC championship appearance

Finishing the regular season with a 8-13 record, the Pioneers will compete in the Midwest Independent Conference Championship meet in Chicago on Sat., March 18.

Among the MIC universities of Illinois at Chicago, Centenary, Illinois State, Southeast Missouri State and Lindenwood, TWU has competed against Centenary, Lindenwood and Southeast Missouri State. Hosting Lindenwood at the Kitty Magee Arena on Sun., Feb. 5, TWU came up short of the win with a 194.125-192.900 team score. During their second match up on Sun., March 5, TWU fell short once again for a 195.275-194.350 Lindenwood team victory. In the TWU tri-meet against Centenary and Brigham Young University on Sat., Feb. 11, TWU was victorious over both teams and outscored Centenary with clean margins, 195.625-191.300. Senior All-Around Katie Simpson finished the meet on the gold podium with an individual score of 38.775. Coming in with the bronze, Junior All-Around Schyler Jones finished at 38.425.

In another meet on Fri., March 3 against Southeast Missouri State and Rutgers University, TWU finished just shy Southeast Missouri State with a 193.425-193.225 team score. MIC specialist of the week and Junior Communication Sciences and Disorders major Erin Alderman finished the floor rotation in the Southeast Missouri tri-meet with a 9.800 score, just shy of her season-high record of 9.875.
