TWU is encouraging Pioneers to “Go Red” for a great cause.

Since 2012, TWU and the Department of Health Studies have partnered with the organization Go Red For Women to raise awareness about heart disease in women.  According to the Go Red For Women website, the lives of nearly 500,000 American women are taken by cardiovascular disease every year. Heart disease is the number one killer of women, and the American Heart Association created Go Red For Women to inform and educate women of heart health.

Assistant Director of Health Promotions Sonia Redwine said: “As the largest primarily for women institution, it is important that we can share this information with our TWU community to improve overall health and wellness, including cardiovascular health.”

Each Wednesday in February from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. in the Kitty Magee Arena, Walking Wednesday will be hosted to promote physical activity in the TWU community.
