The July 2015 winning team, Kwon 3D, will remain the team to beat this spring.

On Friday, April 22 the Fitness and Recreation center will be hosting the faculty and staff golf scramble at the Pioneer golf course, starting at 10 a.m.

During scramble play, teams of two to four play the best ball during an 18-hole game. Every team member tees off, however they get to choose the best shot to continue play on for every stroke until they sink the ball. Along with the scramble rules, USGA rules will also govern play. There will be an overall team award given to the top team.

Some of the advantages to having a golf tournament set up this way is that the game could be wrapped up in three to four hours, opposed to the regular five to six hours, and the overall scores are typically better.

Recreation Director from the Fitness and Recreation center, Gabe Cruz shared: “It is a great way to take a break from work. It is also a great way to build camaraderie in the faculty and staff amongst TWU. All-in-all it is a chance for them to have fun; regardless of skill level, you can still go and have fun on a team while golfing.”

Along with the scramble, there will be two additional competitions, the longest drive and closest to the pin. Awards will be given for both men and women, separately.

Golf scramble teams can consist of two to four people, under the stipulation of having at least two of the team members being current TWU faculty and staff members. Faculty and staff members can also register as free agents, if they do not have a full team to register.

The registration deadline for the scramble is Tuesday, April 19 and can be completed at the Fitness and Recreation front desk between business hours. Cost of registration is $20 per person, and it includes the green and cart fees, as well as lunch.
