Experience Denton the right way

Denton is home to many unique stops, but certain places hold a special place in my heart.

If you are a wino like me, a little place called Wine Squared might make your heart throb. The calm atmosphere, upbeat staff members and games make for a perfect laid back night. Since 2005, the bar has been featured in many magazines, like Tasting Panel, Pegasus News and D Magazine. Wine Squared is also highly rated on Yelp for the pocket-friendly prices, even for college students. Eater Dallas even gives Wine Squared the title of “The best wine bar in Denton.” If you are a lover of wine or a newbie, I suggest trying out the Wine Flights where you can try new flavors. The current specials at the bar include Happy Hours, which are all day Monday and after 6 p.m. Tuesday- Friday, during which customers can get half off wine. Vinyl Wednesday includes $4 glasses and $12 bottles, along with $1 off of beers.

The next stop is Rusty Taco, where you can grab quick tacos and a kickin’ margarita. If you are lucky, you may even get to see a cute doggo on the pet friendly patio. Each taco is roughly a couple bucks. The range of tacos allows almost everyone to enjoy something tasty. There is pork, chicken, fish, brisket and vegetarian options available. Rusty’s also offers all day breakfast tacos for those who get a late start to the day. The chips and queso are something you just can not pass up. The multiple flavors of margaritas include pineapple honey, strawberry, mango and the tried and true original.

If you are more of the classy type, Paschall Bar might be the place for you. The cozy dark ambience really gives a sophisticated vibe. This traditional world-class cocktail lounge is the spot for sitting, sippin’ and socializing. The bar opens at 4 p.m., unless it’s NFL football season, then it opens at noon. The menu is broken up into a few categories. Paschall’s Favorite Classics includes drinks like the Sazerac which, is made up of Rye whiskey, Peychaud’s, Angostura Bitters, sugar and Absinthe spray. The Signature Citrus includes drinks like The Alamo. For those with a sweet tooth, drinks that have a dessert twist are also available, like a White Cosmo or an Espresso Martini. Other categories include Boozy, Homage, Reimagined, Tiki, Old Fashioned, Barrel-Aged cocktails, wines and, for those who don’t dabble with alcohol, Mocktails.

Denton has endless spots to visit- you never know what you’ll find unless you go out and try something new.
