Don’t miss out, go to DanceMakers

The DanceMakers Concert Series is coming back to the Margo Jones Performance Hall on Thurs., April 27 at 4 p.m., Fri., April 28 at 7 p.m. and Sat., April 29 at 7 p.m.

Every semester, this concert series debuts the original works of students, faculty and guest artists on the Denton campus. Seven students, four of which are graduating M.F.A. students, choreographed this semester’s performances.

According to a TWU News press release, the concert will showcase Society choreographed by graduate student Jessica Murphy, Be a Man by undergraduate student Alexandra Garza, 01010111  01100101 (We) by graduate student Tiffany Bierly, Feeling’ Myself by undergraduate student Ashley Cervantes, in between space by graduate student Reyna Mondragon, Terra Firma by graduate student Andrea Guadagno and Departure by graduate student Yeajean Choi.

Department of Dance Chair and Professor Mary Williford-Shade and Associate Professor of Dance Jordan Fuchs are this semester’s DanceMakers co-producers.

Fuchs reported that each DanceMakers performance is rooted in modern style. Those in attendance can anticipate a variety of thought provoking themes such as power, masculinity, binaries, space and the human condition.

Fuchs highly encourages TWU students to take part in this experience. “This concert is a great opportunity to see the exceptional work of our student choreographers and performers. Who knows? Maybe it will change your life as it did mine. The first modern dance concert I ever saw was in college and it so impressed me, I gave up all thoughts of being a lawyer and signed up the very next semester for modern dance 101,” said Fuchs.

Tickets are $5 for students, faculty, staff and seniors or $10 for the general public. Click here to purchase tickets.
