Diversity, Inclusion, and Outreach is presenting the movie “Frida,” “a visual biography of Frida Kahlo, who channeled the pain of a crippling injury and her tempestuous marriage into work.”
The event is taking place at Lowry Woods apartments on Friday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. Bring and friend or two and come on down, because this is a free event.
Frida Kahlo was a Mexican artist known for her self-portraits, her book of paintings “Pain and Passion” and her use of bold, vibrant colors. Despite suffering from Polio as a child and nearly dying in a horrific bus accident as a teenager, which resulted in multiple fractures of the spine, a shattered pelvis and a broken foot, Kahlo used the time her body needed to recover to work on her painting. As a result of her multiple conditions, Kahlo endured over 30 operations on her frail body.
